Consider trying additional cooling methods to bring down the temperature without replacing your cooler. You could use a more powerful fan or add extra cooling pads. If the issue persists, upgrading your CPU or RAM might help. Let me know if you need more tips!

Ensure the cooler is securely installed and verify if thermal paste has set. Consider cleaning the PC, as dust accumulation could also be an issue.

Stock cooler has been on the 4790 for over a decade with no problems. Have you used it?

That was just last week, I cleaned the entire PC, re-applied thermal paste and all. Still nothing working.

It might be worth considering lowering the voltage, but only after checking compatibility and potential risks.

It seems the cooling system might not be secured correctly, possibly due to insufficient or excessive thermal paste.

It was already occurring too, which is why I re-applied hoping it would resolve the problem.

This isn't occurring in all the games I play.

Your operating system is nine years old. If you haven’t upgraded recently, that’s a notable achievement. A new installation or moving to a lighter OS like Ubuntu or Pop OS might be beneficial. If your system is still handling CPU-intensive games well, it could be time for a hardware upgrade. Ensure the new cooler includes proper mounting options. Your multimedia machine runs the same CPU, and games are mainly streamed from your main PC via Steam, so it rarely faces heavy loads. I currently use a low-profile Noctua cooler for quiet operation, and my last deep clean was in 2019. I’m thinking about upgrading to a pre-built mini. You can find used Dell or HP mini units for around a few hundred dollars on eBay now. The latest mini forums even offer RDNA3 GPUs that could outperform mine for about $500-600.
