i7 4770k z87 PRO (V EDITION) on Windows 10
i7 4770k z87 PRO (V EDITION) on Windows 10
I just configured a friend's old computer as my secondary workstation and am attempting to achieve a stable overclock.
System details: Core i7 4770k, Asus Z87 PRO (V EDITION), Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.
The motherboard includes its own overclocking tools called AI Suite 3.
Each boot shows a popup warning about missing Intel MEI drivers.
I visited ASUS's site to download the necessary drivers but they keep failing to install.
The error message reads: system match failed.
Could anyone please confirm if overclocking with this setup is even feasible?
Thanks!
Your PC requires Microsoft* .NET framework 3.5 or above for the intel MEI. Verify it and consider enabling it if necessary. Details on how to proceed can be found here: https://www.groovypost.com/howto/enable-...windows-8/ Also, manual overclocking is suggested. I included some of the linker information; more will follow. Additional guidance can be accessed at: https://www.pcworld.com/article/2044751/...a-pro.html For a detailed guide on overclocking an Intel 4770K, see: https://rog.asus.com/articles/overclocki...rclocking/
Hello, you already have the Windows .NET Framework 3.5 installed. However, you're facing issues installing the MEI drivers that you downloaded from the ASUS website. From the BIOS, you've successfully configured an overclock with frequencies at 100mhz and a ratio of 43, which your BIOS displays as 4300mhz. After booting into Windows 10 Pro, your Task Manager and CPU-Z both report only 3.5ghz at full CPU load during stress tests using tools like Conebench, CPU-Z, or AIDA64.
I have attached the logs of my installation. The drivers I downloaded from the Asus website are:

For the intel MEI, obtain it from the Intel website as provided. Since you cannot install it beforehand, it is recommended to uninstall the previous version and then install the new one. Regarding the CPU OC issue, consider clearing the CMOS to reset first, then retry. Alternatively, update the BIOS; be aware that this may or may not brick your motherboard.
I plan to install the MEI from the link you shared. However, on another note, my chipset z87 isn't listed among the supported options. Also, since I haven't managed to install MEI, nothing is pre-installed. If I check Device Manager and then System, I don't see Intel Management Engine there.
Additionally, I've updated the BIOS from the same source for my specific model. I haven't tried resetting CMOS, but I'm unsure what effect that would have.
I was able to overclock through the BIOS settings, and they remain stable. The issue seems to disappear once I'm running Windows 10.
Hello everyone, thank you very much for your assistance. I managed to resolve the problem. It turned out that the TPU switch on my motherboard was disabled, which prevented BLCK and Ratio customisation even though I had adjusted those settings in BIOS. The rest of the configuration was already correct. The drivers didn’t require manual installation—they just needed to be enabled via the switch. After turning the TPU switch ON, I rebooted and saw the MEI drivers appear under 'Systen Devices' in Device Manager. I was able to successfully overclock the system to a stable 4.4ghz at 1.215V, and everything is functioning properly. Appreciate all your support!
