I7 4770k OC Problems
I7 4770k OC Problems
I'm just starting out with overclocking and have run into some issues... My 4770K isn't running stably for more than two minutes on 4.2GhZ even at 1.3V. I know it's a bit of a gamble when buying a chip, but can a chip really be this unreliable? I've only adjusted the core voltage and the multiplier so far, and there are no DRAM XMP profiles set.
Problem number 2:
This happened during an overclock attempt. Now I'm at 4.1 GHz with 1.2 Core Voltage (just for testing), but my CM Seidon 120 is struggling to keep up. The cores are now running at 90-98°C. I've looked up a bit and others seem to reach a max of 70°C at 4.2Ghz and 1.180 Core Voltage. My first guess was the thermal paste, but it only became an issue recently (about ten minutes ago).
My chip is not performing well. I've already pushed my i7 4770k to 4.1ghz at 1.080v, but it can only go up to 4.6ghz with 1.3v, reaching 100c under load. At 4.1ghz it stays at 73c even when fully loaded.
