So as the title indicates, I have an i7 2700k and I'm attempting to overclock it. But whenever I adjust the multiplier/voltage and related configurations in BIOS, the system disregards my changes and returns to the default values when the operating system starts. The BIOS will show the settings I applied, yet it doesn't actually apply them. I'm puzzled as to why this happens. The motherboard is an overclocking board too, so that shouldn't be a problem either. The Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 board seems capable.

I've previously successfully overclocked both newer Intel and AMD processors, but this one still doesn't seem to respond to the speeds it claims to support. It might help that it also disregards custom turbo clock settings.

On the positive note, the system is quite flexible and allows me to modify the RAM clock speed as well.
