I am improving my i3 2120 and gtx 950 for upcoming gaming needs.
For my budget here, I can purchase a used i7 2600 with gtx 1060 6GB, possibly add extra 4MB RAM, or opt for a used i7 2600K with gtx 1060 3GB plus a used motherboard for overclocking (maybe some funds left for a cheaper cooler).
Which choice would be better and provide longer gaming performance?
I currently have a basic motherboard and 12GB RAM, with a 1080p 60Hz monitor.
Thank you for your help in advance.

i7 2600K paired with gtx 1060 and 3GB RAM since the additional storage won't make much difference once the OC is applied, particularly for CPU-intensive applications and games.

The performance gap between the intel core i7 2600k and the 7700k is minimal when measured in percentages. Many YouTube videos support this idea. I recommend using 6gb of VRAM for better flexibility and longer system life.

The recommendation is to opt for 6gb of VRAM. This provides extra capacity to extend your system's lifespan. You're asking about the difference between the i7 2600 and i7 2600K?

There's very little difference in performance when it comes to the intel core i7 2600k and the 7700k in percentages. There's plenty of youtube videos out there that confirms this. My suggestion is to go with 6gb of vram. This will allow you some additional headroom to get extra few years out of your system.
You mean between i7 2600 and i7 2600K right ?
No, I meant exactly what I said. The intel core i7 2600k is still an excellent processor by today's gaming standards:

I understand that the i7 2600k and GeForce 1060 6GB are ideal choices, but using a refurbished motherboard for overclocking exceeds my budget.
