In productivity terms they compete closely, though the 13700K usually edges out a bit (depends on your needs). For gaming, the 7900X3D performs strongly. Regarding efficiency, the 7900X3D uses roughly two-thirds the power of the 13700K. Still, the 13700K is cheaper by about two-thirds, so comparing them might not be worth it unless you're budget-conscious.

It's a tough decision... Intel's option offers four additional cores, yet I still find the performance and efficiency cores lacking. I'm leaning toward the 7900X3D overall since I believe AMD will remain a durable high-performance choice. Prices also play a role—locally you can opt for the 13900K instead of the 7900X3D at similar costs, but when comparing the 13,700K and the 7900X3D, I still suggest the AMD path.

Remember that 7900x3d boosts to a 6-core setup during gaming, which could make the 13,700k more advantageous over time by offering 8 cores instead of 12. If future games become very thread-heavy, it might provide 24 cores rather than just 12

I haven't heard anything positive about those x3d chips. The UFD couldn't handle his setup properly—he needed to run 32GB at J-Dec, and Wendle had to tweak the whole OS. Frames chasers face similar problems; tech dealers in the city didn’t like it. It feels more like a hobbyist project than something serious. At around 13,700k, it should work out of the box, though maybe some voltage adjustments are needed. Overall, it’s definitely not for casual use unless you love tinkering with BIOS settings.
