Hey there, looking for tips on keeping your system cool while gaming. Your i7-12700f is reaching 100°C during intense sessions, even when idle it stays around 40°C. You've tried the default cooler and re-applied thermal paste, but the temps remain high. You have both intake and exhaust fans at full speed, and you're considering a new case with extra fans. Your system specs are solid, but the heat management is a concern. What adjustments or upgrades might help?

You seem unsure about the purchase, mentioning it's similar to or worse than the standard model. Could you clarify your location and the price you paid?

Hey, this cooler is completely insufficient for the 12700K. It’s really bad quality—just barely works for something around 12400K, if any. You should upgrade to something like a Peerless Assassion or better.

I thought it might be a terrible cooler, but I got it on a whim since it was 3 AM and didn’t know if my CPU needed one. Cost was R400 or 21. I’m from South Africa.

It's unusual to experience such a high temperature despite using the stock cooler; check for other factors affecting cooling.

The CPU will keep running until it reaches around 100°C or is cooled down, but the cooler won’t help at all. It’s reaching its maximum temperature limit. As you mentioned, you were aware of this issue. I’m not sure why you’re asking now when you should have known better. Sorry to let you know the cooler isn’t worth much—maybe around $5. Would you like me to process a return?

You tried reinstalling the CPU cooler once more, but it’s still reaching a high of 80°C.

It's still quite high for a medium-high load on a 12700F. A new cooler would be advisable if possible. One of the top coolers available now costs less than twice what you have and offers better performance—like the Thermalright Peerless assassin or Phantom Spirirt models, which are around 3 to 5 times more effective.
