Hello, I own an HP Victus 16 equipped with an i7-11800H and RTX 3060. For gaming, I run Windows 10 on High Performance power plan, both for battery use and when connected to a charger. I've observed significant differences in processor frequencies between the two modes. Using HWINFO, when unplugged it operates between 1 to 2.8GHz depending on the core, but when plugged in all cores jump to around 4.X GHz for the same workload—sometimes reaching up to 4.58 GHz, which matches my laptop's capability. Is there a way to adjust this behavior? I can't run emulators while powered on due to overheating, which reaches 95°C–100°C. However, the same emulator performs well on battery power with temperatures up to 64°C.

Review your power settings in Windows. It’s likely the processor runs at high capacity when connected.

Sure, I updated it to 5% as requested. It seems the adjustment didn't have a noticeable impact.

Wow, thank you so much! This is great information. I have changed the windows power plan to balanced and basically there's no changes in using the slider. If I instead use the Omen hub program there are changes when selecting the power plan there, but it only changes with the "silent" and the "ECO" modes, so I guess the true thing that controlls it all is the HP Omen hub. I will now try to mess with throttle stop, but I'm not really versed in the program. Do you happen to know of a guide on how to modify the values you mentioned or is it going to be a "try until you blue screen" situation? lol

This tutorial is really helpful! I managed to cap my CPU at 4 GHz and adjusted the ProcHot settings as you suggested. I’ll consider trying to turn off turbo later, but for now I’m happy with this. Time to reactivate hyperthreading! Thanks a lot!
