It varies. When we look at mobile chips, some choices turn out to be inferior. Still, they don’t match the performance of i7 parts in the same lineup.

I mean I'm clarifying your question. Could you provide more details?

Some sites claimed i7 outperformed i5 in performance, but when I compared an i5 with 10,500H against an i7 with the 11th generation, the results were different—i5 came in at 50 while i7 scored 200. That’s why I got confused.

It resembles an i7-10610U—still a 10th generation i7 but with fewer cores and lower power consumption, which means slower clock speeds overall. Comparing the i5-10500H to the i7-10750H or i7-10700 isn’t faster; the latter models are actually slower. User performance tests are generally poor. There are many 11th generation i7s available, not just one. The 1165G7 belongs to a separate processor lineup.

He also draws parallels between a laptop CPU and a desktop i5 10500.

I skipped the screenshot because the original post mentioned the 10500H, so I thought it was more significant. Still, the 1165G7 can be greatly hindered by its power limits, which my laptop confirms. Of course, AIB design plays a big role too—an Asus machine with the same CPU might perform worse than an Acer one with the identical processor.

I wasn't considering a desktop CPU. I was thinking about purchasing this laptop before, mainly for programming tasks. My lecturer advised me to opt for an i7 model, so I'm wondering if an i7 11/10th generation laptop would be more powerful than this MSI GF63 with an i5 10500h.

I'm also evaluating it alongside that CPU, which is found in certain Intel Iris Xe models.

Your userbenchmark image showed a score of 10500, not 10500H. They are two separate chips, and the non-H model is a desktop processor.
