I5 Skylake with 2400mhz RAM built-in on an H110M motherboard
Specs include an i5 6400, H110m CPU, GTX1060 with 6gb RAM and 16gb at 2133mhz. My PC is close to five years old and I haven’t replaced it yet. To boost performance, I’m planning RAM upgrades. Currently I have two 8gb sticks totaling 16gb at 2133mhz. I want 32gb for editing but can’t find 2133mhz RAM anymore. I ordered two 16gb sticks at 2400mhz CL15. Will this work? Should timing matter or will it just slow to 2133? My old RAM was HX421C14FB2/8, and the new one is HX424C15FB3/16. Thanks!
I'm moving away from the 2133 sticks. I don't want to mix the new and old parts. Just checking if a 2400 CL15 can work with an i5 Skylake on the H110M.
The system should operate normally, though it will be throttled to 2133.
As Tofu mentioned, the device operates at 2133mhz only. It will function, but you won’t achieve the full 2400mhz speed you’re paying for. Why are you opting for 2400mhz instead of a 2133mhz model?
