i5 9600K vs R5 3600
i5 9600K vs R5 3600
Currently I use an Intel i5 9600K with a boosted clock speed of 4.9Ghz. Despite that, I experience full CPU utilization and performance issues in AC Odyssey, BFV MP, COD MW, and I’m concerned about upcoming titles. New consoles feature 8-core 16-thread CPUs, which may increase demand for PC games eventually. I’m playing on a 1080p 144Hz display and my overclocked RX 5700 can achieve high frame rates. I recently purchased a brand new Ryzen R5 3600 and an ASRock B450M Pro4 with a 30-day return policy for very affordable prices. Selling old components would be cheap, around 10-20€, and switching to AMD would be straightforward since it doesn’t require a new motherboard. Many games are expected to benefit from Ryzen’s 12-core architecture. I think the R5 3600 will remain reliable longer, and AMD also supports CPU upgrades without needing a new board.
I was planning to wait but everything was -25% at my nearby shop, which made me feel tempted. Selling my i5 9600K felt like a smart move since it matched the cost of buying the R5 3600. Stuttering in AC Odyssey and BFV is really frustrating, and it seems my i5 isn’t letting the GPU perform well.
It seems like you're questioning the cost difference. Why not make the change?
