You can increase all the cores to 4.1GHz with an overclocked motherboard, though 3.89GHz works just fine.

The i5 9400 is a secured processor. With a Z-series board it would function correctly, and that’s what I believe.

You’d need to execute a program designed for single-core performance, limiting it to one thread. Launch the benchmark, navigate to Task Manager, locate the process, adjust its affinity so only one thread runs, and then test the results. The typical boost frequency for this CPU is around 3.9Ghz, but its locked multiplier restricts overclocking.

Turn on full-core boost...all cores are running at 4.1...actually, it's not overclocking. There might be some non-OC motherboards that let you do this? I'm a bit confused...

it doesn't seem to be the usual process, usually you just lower the power caps so it runs smoothly at full core boost instead of slowing down to normal duty cycle
