i5-7640X O.Cing help!
Hey everyone!
Do you know the top overclock setting for your I5-7640x? (current settings: http://)
(the biggest error I've made!)
And which water cooling solution should I use for this overclock? (I'm currently using a H55 Corsair cooler.)
I was thinking about going with an H100x with 2000 RPM fans – sounds worth it?
Because I'm getting around 47-54°C during idle!!!!!!
Thanks! ^^ Have a great day!
The issue is that air moving through the radiator warms up by cooling it down; inside the case it becomes hotter. This explains why it's better to use it for exhaust rather than intake. Of course, with 2-3 fans for exhaust it won't make much difference (5c), but most people don't rely heavily on fans for strong airflow. (I have 6 fans on my case). Also, keep in mind that your overclocked I5-7640X should generate around 150W or more heat, unlike the typical 90W CPUs. That's why an exhaust solution is suggested. For more info, just search for "case radiator as intake".
The maximum achieved is 5.2GHz, which is quite impressive. For temperatures, staying below 80°C during peak usage is safe. With water coolers, the fan speed isn't crucial (laptops use 7000RPM fans), and the radiator size is the key factor to focus on. Opt for a radiator that's 240mm or larger. Yes, it's wise to aim for an H100x or better if you're targeting temperatures around 80°C.
Zebarjadi.raouf shared his thoughts on the setup. The maximum performance achieved is 5.2GHz, which is quite solid for your 5.1Ghz. Regarding temperatures, keeping them below 80C during peak usage is safe. For water coolers, the fan speed isn't crucial since laptops typically have 7000RPM fans. Focus should be on the radiator size—opt for something with 240mm or larger. If you're aiming for around 80C, consider an H100x or better. I think I should get an H100x with stock fans (1300RPM). The H100x fits well since it's 240mm. Where exactly should I install the H100x—on top or front of the case? Also, does this airflow work for a case like this? It seems reasonable to place the H100x on top so it can draw cold air in and cool the GPU.
Just NO. The radiator is going to get HOT. It will suck cold air and push hot air inside making everything worse. Your radiator should be a exhaust. It should push air outside of the case, not inside.
Use the radiator and rear as exhaust and everything else as intake.
Zebarjadi.raouf:
No, it's a mistake. The radiator will get very hot. It will draw in cold air and push out hot air, which only makes things worse. Your radiator needs to be an exhaust. It should expel air outside the case, not bring air in. You should use the radiator with the rear as exhaust and the front as intake. Do you have an article about this? I'd like to learn more about radiator placement and airflow.
