Hey! Today I powered on my PC and noticed it was running really slow. I checked the Task Manager and saw the CPU stuck at 0.80Ghz. I looked up solutions online and found a helpful guide at bradshacks.com. It helped fix the problem and now I need to enable ThrottleStop to reach above 800Mhz. Before that, I tried several BIOS tweaks on my ASUS Strix Z270F: turned off Intel Adaptive Thermal Monitor, disabled C States, reset to normal EZ Mode, and updated the BIOS (which showed the CPU could hit 4.5Ghz). Now it’s capping at 3.9Ghz. On ThrottleStop, the limits were showing PL2 (yellow) for Core and Ring. Before applying the fix from bradshacks.com, I saw PL1 in red and PL2 in yellow under Core. I’m planning to replace the CPU and motherboard soon (targeting Intel 11th gen), but I’d love to know if it’s possible to get back to 4.5Ghz later. This would really help with gaming, especially with Bottleneck already in place.

When I didn't open Throttlestop immediately after booting on Windows, waited about a minute, and then opened it, my CPU was at 0.8Ghz. Ignore any clamp settings and verify the Turbo Boost Short Power Max option. I’m aware Brad prefers clearing this setting, but as long as the caps are correct, it’s acceptable. Now review the Lock option and confirm OK. In the FIVR section, disable and lock the Turbo Power Limits box. Intel CPUs support several turbo limits; this setting handles the secondary ones. Since you’ve locked the CPU register, exit ThrottleStop, remove the ThrottleStop.INI file, and power off your machine to reset the register properly. This is the recommended method. In the FIVR window, all ratios are set to 39, which caps performance at 3900 MHz. Adjust these values to match your desired speed. Also, align the TPL - Speed Shift Max with the highest turbo ratio you’re using—typically setting it to 255 avoids conflicts. What are your current turbo ratios and power limits in the BIOS? Ok thank you very much, I did everything you said and now I'm able to reach 4.59Ghz. For the bios settings, I don't know much, everything looks set on "Auto" Here is a screenshot of everything who could be interessting : https://imgur.com/a/s0PyQZy I must have Throttlestop to run when I boot my pc to have the cpu clocked at 4.59Ghz, If not, my cpu stay stuck at 0.80Ghz.

After rebooting, I noticed the 800Mhz frequency—whether this was the cause isn’t clear. These are currently set to AUTO, meaning the BIOS should handle the turbo limits properly. You can manually adjust them. Set both limits to 4095, similar to what you use in ThrottleStop. After booting, avoid running ThrottleStop and observe if your CPU throttles. It’s challenging to pinpoint exactly when this issue began or what caused it. I think I've identified the problem, though it seems really simple after all my attempts. I recalled this morning that I had a software for my graphics card—MSI Dragon Center. I remembered enabling a CPU setting, so I turned it off in the software, ran an update, then re-enabled the CPU setting and restarted my PC. Now it works fine without needing ThrottleStop. That was the original issue. I was considering buying an MSI motherboard for future upgrades but am now unsure. Thanks a lot for your help!
