i5 6600k overclocking on MSI Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon
I've been attempting to boost my CPU's performance for a while, but I've encountered some frustrating obstacles. Every time I increase the clock speed, the overall system tends to slow down. For instance, setting it to 4.4GHz made launching Windows 10 take around five seconds, with parts of the interface loading before completion. At 4.2GHz it was still slower than the default system OC (which auto-adjusted to 4.1GHz with "Gaming Boost"), though manageable.
I've looked through various guides, including the Tweaktown Intel Skylake Overclocking manual, but I'm still unclear on the concepts and how they work together. I would appreciate if someone could explain this in a clearer manner so I can grasp the basics and terminology better.
My BIOS voltage setting for my CPU is set to "Auto" across the board.
Thanks for your assistance.
