i5 6600K overclock
i5 6600K overclock
I recently assembled my initial PC a few days back, here are the main specifications:
CPU: i5-6600K (as mentioned in the title)
CPU cooler: CM Hyper 212 evo
GPU: MSI RX 470 (4GB)
RAM: Kingston Fury 2*4GB DDR4
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 3
PSU: EVGA Supernova G2 550W
I play CSGO at the highest settings 1080P, but on average I manage around 210 FPS (it's not extremely low) with a minimum of about 130 FPS (it's limited because I'm using a 144Hz monitor). Therefore, I attempt to overclock since CSGO relies heavily on CPU performance.
I'm monitoring my CPU with Core Temp and CPU-Z. It's currently running at 4.4GHz for half an hour, with maximum temperatures between 66-68°C and voltage readings of 1.296-1.308V (CPU-Z) / 1.3-1.3275V (Core Temp). Is it safe to enable auto-voltage? Could running the PC at this level be risky? Will my PC's lifespan decrease significantly if I maintain these settings daily (I power it off each night)? This is my first overclocking experience, so I'm seeking your advice and insights. Thank you!
Run Prime95 small FFTs for a minimum of an hour. If you don’t encounter any failures, it’s safe to proceed. Most suggest at least two hours, though you can manage with one hour yourself. Your decision is yours.
