Hey everyone, I have a few questions that I've been trying to figure out but haven't found clear answers for. The links with the solutions would be really helpful if you don’t want me to go through them yourself.
My younger brother is currently abroad and I don’t have any contact with him. He was the one who set up my overclocking for both the GPU and CPU. I accidentally changed the BIOS settings, thinking it was a stock configuration, but it actually triggered a BSOD that wasn’t related to overclocking at the time. Now I’m stuck with basic settings, and I suspect my GPU might be overclocked, but I don’t know how to confirm or what tools will tell me.
I ran the Heaven benchmark, and in the top right it showed GTX 1070 with a frame rate of 1911mhz, graphics speed at 4004mhz, and memory speed at 83°C max temperature. Does this match the stock GTX 1070 from NVIDIA Founders Edition? Is it overclocked? And is that safe to run?
For the I5, I used a CPUID monitor in the background, which reported clock speeds between 801MHZ and 4216MHZ, with maximum temperatures around 51-54°C depending on the core. When I opened BIOS and selected daily computing and water cooling, those values reflect what my CPU settings were at that time.
I’m sorry, but these details aren’t very helpful. If anyone has time to assist a beginner like me, it would be a big help. I’m trying to keep everything safe while overclocking, and I want to make sure my CPU and GPU are running correctly together.
Components include: Asus Z170-A, I5-6600k, Corsair vengeance 16GB LPX DDR 3,000mhz, Nvidia GTX 1070 FE, EVGA 750W Supernova G2 Gold 80+, Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ultimate Liquid Cooling, Crucial BX200 240gb SSD, Crucial MX300 525gb SSD, and WD 1TB HDD. I play various games and racing simulators on a 1080p TV, so it would be useful to know what overclocking settings are appropriate for my setup.
Thanks in advance for your time and help! Just trying to stay safe while running overclocking and ensuring everything works smoothly together.

It seems they remain overclocked. He likely used software to boost their performance, and changing the BIOS settings didn't impact the CPU.

The 1070 includes a feature called GPU boost 3.0, which will automatically increase its speed if temperature and power constraints permit. An 1911mhz rating aligns with a typical stock GPU boost 3.0 frequency, so it seems your system hasn't been overclocked manually—this is completely safe. For software-based overclocking, MSI afterburner is recommended. You could also adjust the CPU settings in the BIOS.

After reviewing my bios and the utilities folder he provided, I found several MSI files including after burner, cpuid, cpu-z, AIDA64 Extreme, boot settings, Techpowerup GPU-Z, HY-stream, Heaven benchmark, and Turbo launch. When I opened my bios and clicked the EZ tuning wizard, it displayed details such as CPU frequency 3,500mhz, ratio 35X, BCLK 100.00mhz, temperature 27°C, DRAM frequency 16,384, DDR4 2,800mhz. I suspect my CPU is stock, as the i5-6600k lists 3.5GHz as stock. To overclock it, I need to find safe adjustment values. For the i5 CPU, I should go into bios, then UEFI secure boot mode, advanced settings, and explore main AI tweaker, cores, clocks, etc. Regarding Secure Boot in "Other OS" with test signing, it seems similar to Windows UEFI settings—does it affect overclocking? Thank you for your quick replies!
