Hello community,
today I tried to overclock my i5 6600k but encountered an unusual problem:
my settings:
- sync all cores
- bclk: 100mhz
- bclk spread spectrum: off
- multiplier: 42
- voltage: fixed to 1.25
- turbo boost: off
Despite these adjustments, the CPU speed remained at 3,5ghz.
In programs like prime95, cinebench and various games showed no change.
I noticed CPU-Z reported a multiplier of x 35 (compared to my current 42), which means it calculated as x 35 for 8 cores instead of 42. So when I set 42, it displayed x 35 (8 - 42) or x 35 (8 - 36).
My settings were accepted by the system, but they didn’t affect the performance.
Am I missing something important, or is there an issue with my CPU or motherboard?
Thanks in advance!

Hello community,
today I tried to increase my i5 6600k's speed but encountered an odd problem:
my configuration:
- sync all cores
- bclk: 100mhz
- bclk spread spectrum: off
- multiplier: 42
- voltage: fixed at 1.25
- turbo boost: off
Despite these settings, the CPU speed remained stuck at 3,5ghz.
In programs such as prime95, cinebench and various games showed no change.
I noticed CPU-Z reported a multiplier of x 35 (compared to my current 42). So when I set 42 in CPU-Z, it calculated x 35 (8 - 42), while 36 gave x 35 (8 - 36).
My settings were accepted by the system, but the speed didn’t improve.
Am I missing something important or is there an issue with my CPU or motherboard?
Thanks in advance!
I’m not very experienced with overclocking, but it seems like a software-related problem—maybe updating the BIOS or resetting CMOS and trying again could help.

What is your mother's model? Are you adjusting through the BIOS?

In Windows Advanced Power Options, the maximum processor state you can set is either 100% or 4200MHz.

i'm not very familiar with overclocking, but it seems like a software problem. You might want to update the BIOS or reset the CMOS and try again. BIOS is currently up to date.
