i5 6600 or i5 6600k
i5 6600 or i5 6600k
I plan to purchase a new PC after some time. I'm uncertain whether to overclock since I haven't done it before. As an independent filmmaker and editor, plus an avid gamer, I require top-tier editing and graphics software. Within my budget, I can consider a Core i5 6600K paired with a Gigabyte R9 380 G1 gaming edition. However, opting for the Core i5 6600 could also save costs on both the processor and the motherboard. Please let me know if you have any advice on whether to choose the 6600K version?
overclocking allows you to use the cpu for a longer period of time.
seeing how you could afford an unlocked version, you may as well go for it.
the only reason anyone would get the non-K version is when they're short on cash or don't plan to heavily utilize the system.
for your case, you nothing to lose by going for the 6600k

Gingerbread:
If your budget supports either GTX 970 + i5-6600, opt for that. But if even after upgrading the CPU and motherboard you still can't get the GTX 970, then choose the 6600k with a Z170 motherboard and aftermarket cooling. I'm unable to reach the GTX 970 even after making those adjustments.
