My i5 6500 is operating near 80°C during its highest load but never exceeds it. I'm using a Corsair h100i gtx and have installed it several times to confirm stability. The Arctic Silver 5 paste is applied, and it's been overclocked to 4.7ghz on an ASRock z170m extreme 4 motherboard. All suggestions are appreciated!

Hello!
80c is acceptable for peak temperatures on your CPU since it's overclocked at 4.7GHz. Generally, higher clock speeds lead to higher temperatures, but your H100i appears to be handling it well. A question remains: what are your idle temperatures? As long as they stay between 30 and 40°C and don’t approach 90°C under load, you're in good shape.
🙂
Hope this clears things up!

This thread covers safe temperature ranges for Intel processors.
For reference, Intel specifies a maximum processor temperature of 71°C.
Additionally, the Intel Core i5-6500-Processor model supports up to 3MHz cache at 60GHz.

Hello!
80c is acceptable for a maximum temperature on your CPU since it's running at 4.7GHz. The higher the clock speed, the greater the heat, but your H100i appears to be handling it well. A question remains—what are your idle temperatures? As long as they stay between 30 and 40°C and don’t approach 90°C under load, you're in good shape.
🙂
Thanks for the quick reply! It only reaches up to 76°C and idles around 36–38°C. I wanted to check if I could push it a bit more because I love seeing how it performs!

Hello! That sounds like your 6500 with an older BIOS should support BCLK over clocking.

Hello Adrian! That sounds like your 6500 with an older BIOS supports bclk over clocking. Thanks for the info. Just a reminder to keep temperatures under 70°C since the package is rated for 71°C by Intel.

Also, @ Adrian Ocampo, it might be feasible to overclock an i5 6500 if certain conditions are met. You can find more information on this topic here: Hmmmm... I might need to experiment with this...

To Adrian and Albionm00n-
This processor really messes with my friends 6600k, and I love it! It kind of gets me angry, but I can't help but smile and rub my hands together mischievously. Haha! But seriously, I'm excited to push this guy up to 4.8 stable!
😛
I also have another thread where I did a 5.0 OC and ran a bench test with it. But according to everyone, it was a really bad idea that I tried... :/
