i5 4690K Overclock Help
I struggle to discover the method for boosting my i5 4690K via the BIOS on my motherboard. The board I own is a MSI H97m E-35. Am I required to use a Z-series chipset for this purpose?
some h97 boards offer the chance to overclock. if it isn't visible, updating your bios might be necessary. without an option, the board likely can't handle overclocks effectively. h97 boards aren't built for this purpose. i'd go with a z97 for a better performance boost. z97 boards are built to manage power gains from overclocking more efficiently and typically come with more features.
Occasionally some H97 boards support overclocking, but typically a Z series chipset is required.

Occasionally, just installing the newest BIOS update is enough to unlock certain customization features. I’d start there. Since I’m comfortable overclocking an ASRock H81, I’m wondering if the same applies to a H97.
