I have my i5 4690k overclocked to 4.2 Ghz with a core voltage of 1.2. The temperatures range from 39 to 40 during high idle. Under load, I rarely exceed 70 or 75 degrees for a short time.

It's a bit too high for a 4.2GHz OC on that devils canyon CPU. I recommend looking into OC options for that specific chip. Asus ROG forums offer useful guidance; the terminology may vary, but the principles remain similar, particularly regarding ring voltages, LLC, short/long durations, and c-states.

Do you know if there are any stable clocks suitable for this configuration? Currently I'm using 4.2 GHz at 1.2 volts, and I'm worried my voltage might be a bit too high.

4.2GHz is within reach, though it depends on the chip selection. Are your BIOS settings still set to "Auto" for voltage, or have you adjusted them yourself?
