Hello, while gaming my CPU usage spikes to over 90% and even reaches 100%. This problem appears across many titles I’ve played (CS GO, FIFA 15, GTA V, Far Cry 4, Battlefield 4). In some games it’s not a major concern but still quite high. When it hits 100%, I notice noticeable issues. Known problems: FIFA 15 – audio stuttering; GTA V – background tasks slow down and the main menu lags for the first ten seconds.

My system specs: Windows 8.1, Intel i5 4690K @4.3 GHz, 4x 2GB RAM (8GB total), 1333 MHz RAM, Asus Maximus VII Ranger GTX 970, Asus Strix graphics card.

I’ve already tried various fixes: resetting BIOS settings, updating BIOS and drivers, checking CPU temperatures, unparking the CPU in the registry, disabling Speedstep and C-states in BIOS, overclocking manually or automatically, and adjusting NVIDIA control panel settings. Small improvements have been seen, but nothing substantial.

I’ve looked at many solutions on YouTube using different configurations, but I’m hoping someone can provide a real solution or clearer guidance. Thank you all for your help!

It should operate at full performance, indicating good optimization. GPU usage likely reflects recent updates or patches. In GTA 5, this might be due to a launch bug, while the lagging typing could stem from similar issues in FIFA 15. This isn’t exclusive to FIFA 15 or GTA 5.

Not related to that processor or those titles (except perhaps GTA).

I'll look into GPU usage tomorrow once I have more time. I'm hoping the lag issues are resolved and that real problems only appear in GTA V and FIFA 15. CPU usage looks high in other games too—does this seem typical or unusual? @ Skreedles In game reports: FIFA 15 audio stuttering GTA V background tasks lag during main menu, especially after 10 seconds, and FIFA audio stutters when I try to stream live while playing FIFA.

Audio interruptions might stem from the game's code. It's typical for background processes to lag during gameplay. It makes sense that your processor isn't operating at full capacity.

I've checked GPU performance across several titles: most ran smoothly at full settings in 1080p. CPU stats show game-specific consumption only, not overall system load. CS GO: CPU 65%-80%, GPU 50%-75% (peak 88%). FIFA 15: CPU 70%-93%, GPU 60%-99%. GTA V: CPU 87%-95%, GPU 85%-99%. In FIFA there was no lag, but spiking tasks caused stuttering. GTA V menu performance improved after entering main menu, though navigation remained sluggish. Alt-tab to other apps slowed everything down. Previous optimizations helped reduce lag and lower CPU usage in most games, but still feel elevated—could this be typical or should I adjust settings further?
