I recently upgraded my i5-3570k to 4.4GHz in an attempt to keep up with my new GTX 1070, but performance remains weak in games such as BF1 where the CPU is hitting maximum. I'm trying to push it to 4.6GHz, yet BIOS shows it still runs at 4.4GHz despite the setting. It seems the MSI Z77A-G41 motherboard might be problematic for OCing. Thank you for your help.

Occasionally it helps, especially when editing videos, but the 6600k works just well enough. Keep the $100.00 saved.

The gap between 4.4 and 4.6 won't yield better outcomes, keep it at 4.4 if stability is assured—it's a solid choice for that board and chip.

At that stage I'll have to swap it out because it's causing significant delays. Should I go with the i5-6600k or is upgrading to an i7 better?

6600K is an excellent chip, and it's performing well right now. For those interested in video editing, i7 is a good choice. If you're into gaming, the 6600K Z board with 16GB DDR4 is worth considering.

6600K is an excellent chip and it's running smoothly now. For those interested in video editing, i7 is a good choice. If you're focusing on gaming, the 6600K Z board with 16GB DDR4 is ideal. I'm trying to start video editing but the i7-6700k costs about $100 more than the i5-6600k—does it really justify that price?

What motherboard would pair well with it while keeping costs low? I was considering the Asus Z170-A.
