I had my 3570k at 4.2 for nearly a year and a half, never exceeding 65C even during extended hours, typically around 60C when idle and between 30-35C while running. Today I decided to overclock it to 4.4 without changing voltages and plan to run Prime95 overnight. I ran the CPU for about an hour at full load, reaching a peak of 73C and averaging 65C under heavy use.

The reason for this more aggressive overclock was that I acquired a GTX 1070 SC edition and wanted extra performance from my CPU.

I’m wondering if these temperatures are acceptable?

Sure, just make sure it doesn't stay above 80c for a long time.

If you encounter crashes, consider adjusting the voltage. Otherwise, it's safer to keep it in auto mode.

Always configure a specific voltage, avoid relying on automatic settings.
