I have the i5 3550 processor, the p8z77 v lx motherboard, and I'm using Windows 10 64 bit. In my multiplier settings it doesn't allow me to stay at 41, it just shows 39. I can enter 41, but the system only accepts 39 and keeps it that way. My friend suggested possibly changing the micro code.

You're not allowed to change the Ivy Bridge CPU in that way.
