Hello everyone. From the title you can tell I have an old PC and I’m planning an upgrade. I’ll replace my i5 3340 with an EVGA 1650 Super. I have DDR3 8 GB RAM and a GT 630. Online tools suggest it should run GTA V at around 40 FPS on medium settings, while others claim high settings will give 70+ FPS in 1080p. I’m a bit confused and would really appreciate your advice. Peace.

This setup will create a significant bottleneck. It’s likely to perform poorly since your CPU won’t match up with your GPU’s capabilities. The GPU can handle over 70 frames per second at 1080p thanks to its modern design and affordable options, while the i5 3340 relies on an outdated architecture and won’t be suitable for gaming.

I’d rather save more for something like an RX 570 instead of spending on this. The 1650S feels like a poor use of money.

This means I won’t experience 70 FPS right now. I understand it’s unfair to the game’s intended speed, but I plan to upgrade my PC to a Ryzen 5 later. For now, I’ll see what I can do with the current setup.

Thank you for your input. It's understandable to be cautious about purchasing a faulty RX 570, especially given the risks involved in buying used items in your area.

I know not much about GTA, but pairing the 1650S with a quad-core i5 is a solid choice. I tested my i5 6600 with a 970 and it performed well, matching the performance level. The i5 3340 isn’t significantly slower either. It should work just fine, especially if you plan to upgrade your CPU soon.

I'll try my best, though it might not be perfect.

I reviewed some tests from the 1650s using G4560, and they turned out fairly solid. My setup includes a 60 Hz monitor, so keeping above 60 FPS isn’t my main focus right now. The G4560 is newer than my i5 3340, but according to the data, it performs better in terms of processing power—my system has four cores while the G4560 only has two. I’m still a bit puzzled about this comparison...

Check it out... that machine had an I5 3470 with a GTX 970 and it performed okay. You're unlikely to notice much difference, especially at higher settings.

I don't have a specific budget, but I can help you manage or track one if needed.
