i5 2500k oc issue
Hello everyone, I'm using an i5 2500k CPU, a Gigabyte Z68UD3P motherboard, and 8GB Kingston HyperX RAM running at 1600MHz CL9. Im have been trying to increase the CPU frequency to 4.5 GHz for stability over the past month. However, it seems the chip isn't able to reach that speed. The unusual behavior is that it remains very stable at 4.4 GHz without any changes in BIOS settings except adjusting the multiplier to 44. But when I set it to 45, I experience an immediate blue screen during Prime Test. At 45 MHz, I've tried all possible voltage configurations, disabled CPU features as recommended, changed Vcore settings multiple times, and even used an LLC at every level. Despite these efforts, achieving a stable 4.5 GHz remains challenging. It's possible that the chip is not the best available or there might be something wrong with my setup. I'm using an Evo 212 v2 cooler, and temperatures stay below 70°C. The Vcore during full load at 4.4 GHz is 1.33.
From my observations, 4.4 is quite typical. You might want to try fsb to 102 if 4.5 bothers you more.
On that chip the 4.4 limit is quite problematic. Those who usually overclock performed exceptionally well, so I initially set it to 5.1 just to test its potential, but later reduced it to 4.8.
