I have a pretty odd issue with my i5 2400. I pulled it out of an old case to upgrade my dad's PC that has a Pentium g850, and it runs fine there. But when I set the BIOS to disable multiprocessor, it only boots as a single core. The problem started a few months ago. Did something get damaged inside? I've tried three different motherboards, all of which had multicore disabled turned on. Sorry for any mistakes, I'm writing from Italy.

It seems there’s an issue with the i5 2400. You’ve tested it on three different motherboards, but it still doesn’t work, indicating the problem likely lies with the CPU itself. Given it’s an 11-year-old processor, a failure in one of its components is quite possible.

I used it in a single core or as a paper holder. Appreciate the help!
