It doesn't make sense to use PCie5 on a CPU and cheap boards, since the GPU will also be inexpensive and might not perform well. Invest in a better CPU and Gen4 components—Gen3 should suffice. I own a 7950X3D and a 7900XTX, both Gen4, and my storage is also Gen4. Using Gen5 drives adds little benefit unless you're dealing with very large files.

Board options cost more than many entry-level Socket 1851 and AM5 boards due to the lack of DDR5 support. The i5-12400F remains affordable since 13th and 14th Gen chips are available, which I prefer for practical reasons. Whether it fits a PCIe 5.0 GPU depends on the specific model you're considering.

PCIe5 isn't really useful for chips below the 5080, let alone that, since my 7900XTX is Gen4 and matches the bandwidth of a 5080. It's unclear why you'd want to skip the 13th/14th generation; only the 700k and 900k models have major problems, with some rare issues on the 600K. They perform much better than the 12th generation for most games. For AMD, having six cores is now a limiting factor in recent titles, and the 5700X offers good value.

The issues surrounding degradation have been fully addressed, eliminating any concerns about the 13/14th generation.

I don’t have enough details about the system configuration. The specs for a 5700X and the i5-14600K’s power needs depend on the motherboard, RAM, and other components. Check the manufacturer’s guidelines or a reliable source for accurate requirements. Also, consider whether the price seems reasonable given the specifications.

14600K is acceptable; the low price comes from Intel's limited availability.

Under maximum demand anticipate around 170W of energy use, while at gaming intensity it ranges from 50 to 90W.

Without outside power to a dedicated GPU, the system needs minimal resources—just enough to run the software and manage basic operations.
