I5 10600K experiences excessive heat without obvious cause in BIOS settings
Hello. I recently assembled my first PC with an Intel Core i5-10600K processor and an MSI Z590-A Pro motherboard. During BIOS setup, the system reported a CPU fan error. I checked temperatures and found the CPU temperature reached 85°C, but after turning it on again out of concern for overheating, it continued to run normally. I replaced the thermal paste and reapplied the cooler, but it still operated without issues. Before overheating occurred, the machine was barely running at all, which is unusual given its powerful hardware and multiple graphics cards. I've reconfigured everything twice, yet performance remains stable. I'm puzzled by this situation.
Is the fan spinning? If the fan is spinning, I'd look at the pump. It sounds like it's either unplugged or just dead. Easy way to check is to just turn on the system and touch the CPU block. If it's completely still, the pump isn't working, if it's vibrating, the pump is working.
