14100f is just slightly quicker than 13100f, and 13100f is marginally faster than 12100f. It's not a huge difference. Probably worth choosing 14100f since it seems only a small extra cost right now. Edit: A better deal might be an i5 12400f (or equivalent from the 13th/14th generation).

They're pretty much just the same chips but each have slightly higher clock speeds and power budgets than the other. And support for more memory, I think 192gb of 14th and 13th gen vs 128gb on 12th gen or something like that. Cheapest might be best, but if it's not that much extra it might be worth considering one of the newer chips. There's a 200mhz difference between gens for boost clocks and 100mhz for base clocks, so 14th gen is 200mhz higher boost and 100mhz higher than 13th gen and same applies for 13th and 12th gen. Personally I don't thin any of the i3 chips are really worth it, I'd just pick up the 12400f, 20$ extra for 2 extra cores is a pretty good deal

I'm using a 12100f, and it performs excellently. It's only 30 dollars less than the 14100f, but the difference isn't significant. I'd recommend picking the 12100f and allocating the 30 dollars toward another upgrade. You also have a solid path to improve your setup.

US pricing is assumed. Comparing to the 13100F and 14100F, which are similar, the difference is around $40 versus the 12100F.

The higher price point of 12400F seems more reasonable compared to 14100F because of the smaller price gap. I believe the reduction to 12100F could still offer worth based on its intended application.
