Hello everyone! As mentioned in the title, I’m attempting to overclock my PC. I’m also pretty new to computers and have limited knowledge about them or overclocking specifically. Thank you for your support!
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
Memory: 16GB DDR3 RAM by Corsair vengeance
Cooler: Hyper 212 EVO
Motherboard: ASUSTeK Computer INC. P8Z68-V PRO (LGA1155)
GPU: ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB (factory OC version with dual fans)
CPU: Intel Core i7 2600 @ 3.40GHz
Power Supply: Seasonic 520 Watts
I understand the motherboard can handle CPU overclocking even though my CPU isn’t a K model. I’m unsure what the BIOS settings mean, but I really need some guidance. I’m not aiming for huge gains, just small improvements that might add a few frames in games. My goal is to reach around 4GHz overall.

if you struggle with computers then my advice is to skip it. let the system auto-start and handle it without interference. if you're unsure about accessing the BIOS, just leave it alone and avoid trying.

You might consider letting the bios handle the auto-OCR automatically. I think using XMP isn't reliable, but if Auto OC works well for you, that would be ideal.

Could we begin by understanding your motivation for wanting to overclock it?

You could only perform BLCK overclocking with a fixed 2600, which becomes quite complex and isn't as straightforward as adjusting the multiplier on a K CPU. Increasing the base clock or memory speed will affect the performance of the memory, CPU, and bus speeds. This approach is not suggested for beginners without overclocking experience. Auto OC features on motherboards won't function properly with a locked CPU.

I want to adjust the output so I can add just a few extra frames in the game. I run a few games at top settings but only get about 50 fps and would like to possibly raise it to 60 : D. I'm not aiming for big jumps, just small improvements that might be achievable.

Yes, if I were to OC I would have to do it by hand.

Yes and with the BLCK. Searching for i7 2600 BLCK overclock guides might find some resources, but doing it in detail offhand isn't recommended.

Which particular games are being referenced? What resolution are we discussing? Confirm if the issue stems from a CPU constraint rather than a GPU one.

Squad and Hunt face off. Resolution is 1360x768, but I don’t have a large monitor. It seems the issue isn’t related to my GPU.
