I purchased the FH2 disk and had always dreamed of playing this title for years. The following day I encountered the infamous red ring of death (back then FH2 was just released). Six years later, thanks to Xenia, I managed to get Xenia as a solid emulator that’s still in active development. Let's begin: the game launched and is solvable, though it has many bugs and glitches. Performance isn’t great on lower-end hardware—my specs are an i5 7400G, GTX 980, 16GB RAM at 2400MHz. It ran around 20-24 FPS, sometimes dropping to 15-19 FPS. It was playable in some areas but many issues stood out: car physics often malfunctioned and felt uncontrollable. Racing at 20-24 FPS was particularly challenging due to the rewind mechanic; without it, it would have been far too slow. The frequent freezes and unresponsiveness made certain sections crash, especially when using the camera on special objects—roads would vanish and cars would fall through. Still, it’s a decent emulator and is continuously improved. I’m planning to try Forza Horizon 1 tonight, which I also wanted to play on my Xbox but never bought the game before. Preferring GTA 5 instead seven years ago. Just a quick note for others: using Xenia in full screen sometimes slows things down two to three times. Avoid that setting. Also, keep in mind my CPU and GPU were consistently at 100% during playthroughs. After playing FH1, I can say about 30% of races caused crashes, but FPS and frame rates have improved significantly compared to FH2—still not fully stable, but much better overall.
