It might be a damaged file. Have you attempted a new installation before?

If you're performing a clean setup, it shouldn't cause any issues. Just switch to a fresh format and then retry the installation.

No, you don't necessarily need a USB drive for a clean installation. It depends on your setup and what you're installing.
