I have a laptop running a program called TEMPer. This tool checks how hot something gets and sends me an email if it drops below a certain number. I am looking for some free software that can tell me when the electricity to my laptop goes out. Basically, I need an alarm system like a UPS power supply gives me so I get notified right away if there is no power. Any ideas would be great. TIA

There is a link to help with checking your laptop's battery using an alarm on Windows 10. It isn't clear yet if that plan will work well, but you could give it a shot.

Why don't we get a real thermometer that tells us when things are hot? It seems like the condition of the laptop isn't as important as how warm the turtle cage gets.

The laptop has a couple of webcams and two temperature sensors so I can make sure everything is okay if I'm not home. We lost one tortoise about three years ago when our relative who used to care for them left the door open. He slipped out and froze on his way home.

An UPS that connects to your laptop warns you if the main power cuts off. Programs such as APC PowerChute send an email or a text message about it happening.

You really should get an alert telling you when the laptop changes from wall power to battery power. Only knowing that the wall power is off and it's still running, but getting cooler and colder.

Yes, a UPS is just what you need here. It does cost a little money, though.

So basically, I'm okay with that. The computer keeps going even though the main power cut off and it's using battery alone. I don't really need to buy a big battery saver system just like this right now, so what do you think about finding software that does exactly that? Thanks for all your answers, very much appreciated.

Here is a link to a guide on how to watch your laptop battery with an alarm on Windows 10. I don't know if this actually works well, but you could give it a shot.
