I wanna know why this worked.
I wanna know why this worked.
Since 2015 i experienced frequent fps drops in battlefield games. It was really frustrating. But in 2019 things seemed to improve. Someone suggested adding a text file called user.cfg.txt inside the game file and filling it with these settings:
RenderDevice.Dx11Enable 0
RenderDevice.Dx11Dot1Enable 0
RenderDevice.Dx11Dot1RuntimeEnable 0
I was just curious about what these changes do. After adjusting them, the game ran much smoother. It was still a bit slow sometimes, but it became playable again. I’m not sure if I should post this question, but I hope someone has an answer.
My best estimate is this would have caused the game to use DirectX 10 rather than 11, though I'm not entirely confident.
So is this a positive outcome? Well, with an i7 3770k and a gtx 1080, your PC should handle BF4 quite smoothly. Swapping dx 10 for dx 11 isn't unusual and might even improve performance. It's not uncommon for older systems to run better with certain settings.
