You're exploring Star Citizen and checking out different input methods. It looks like you're experimenting with both mouse/keyboard and a 360 controller. If many players favor a joystick, it could be worth considering getting one.

I used to play a lot back when the Xbox 360 was just starting out, now on PC I mainly enjoy Arma 3 using various controllers—joystick, keyboard, mouse. Screw it, I’m still figuring this out, but I still think a joystick would make sense ^^

KB+M remains my preferred flying approach, even with controller, joystick, and HOTAS support. Certain shortcuts are only possible with a keyboard. The enhanced mouse control makes aiming more precise, especially for gimballed weapons, which is why many favor it. I’ve used controllers and joysticks before; they do have a steep learning curve, but mastering them leads to strong piloting skills.
