I upgraded my setup with an i9-9900K but my gaming performance has dropped significantly.
Hey there! I recently upgraded to an i9-9900K and initially enjoyed solid performance, but after a couple of days my frame rate dropped significantly compared to when I used an i5-6600K. Now I’m seeing around 70-90 FPS while gaming, which is great, but it’s not as high as before. My CPU temps are still manageable during gameplay, though I’ve noticed they sometimes spike higher in-game. I was at about 40 FPS before, and it can reach 85-95 in COD. Anyone have any thoughts on what might be causing this issue?
Keep Task Manager in the corner during gameplay, observe low FPS, and capture the screen.
I believe 95 degrees is excessive and the processor is entering a thermal throttle...
It occurred just once before, and since then I've adjusted a few parameters, avoiding those extreme temperatures. I'm still puzzled about the low FPS and high temperatures during simple games like CS:GO and League of Legends even though the system runs at normal speeds.
The current connection is the gyazo link. Let me know if you need any additional details later.
The more I examine, the more it feels odd that just the CPU change was responsible for the drop in frame rate from 400 to 90... It doesn’t seem logical to think that switching from an i5 to an i7 would only boost performance by four times, making the reverse idea unclear.
I understand, I also switched to a Prime Z370-A motherboard. Apologies if it caused any issues.
