My gateway ultra slim book bios had an overclock option, so I adjusted the bclk to 100 and the ratio to 32, which is quite high for the CPU. I'm now figuring out if I haven't reset the CMOS yet and would appreciate a second opinion on possible solutions if this doesn't work.

There isn't a heatsink in a laptop. Only a small metal part and some copper tubing are present, positioned near the airflow from the fan. This is why laptop CPUs usually don't exceed 25w± because they lack an effective cooling system. The overclocking capability here is just a marketing trick. It's not ideal for a CPU that can't maintain a stable temperature without slowing down. For better and more reliable performance, return the laptop to its original settings and then lower the voltage as much as possible while keeping it stable. Cooler temperatures mean less chance of throttling the CPU or GPU clocks.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer! You might want to consider removing the CMOS battery to reset BIOS settings and return to defaults. Additionally, could you analyze the model for your slim laptop? Slim, laptop, and overclocking aren't meant to be mentioned together.

Standard laptops aren't designed for overclocking (except possibly some very high-end gaming models). They offer little to no thermal capacity. Trying to overclock a laptop is a really bad idea.
