I built a budget PC using an R5 2400G and an MSI B450M PRO M-2 without a dedicated GPU. It was my first attempt, so I tried overclocking with little experience. I managed to reach 420 MHz from 400 MHz. This was the initial change I made. Then I attempted to overclock again from 420 to 466 and increased RAM from 1333 to 1600 as recommended. When trying to boot, nothing appeared and I followed some guides on how to fix it. The motherboard lacks a BIOS reset pin, and the reset button in my case only slowed fans and changed the BIOS light. I removed the CMOS battery and reinstalled it after taking everything off the back panel. Now the reset button doesn’t work at all, and I’m unsure what to do or fear making further damage. If I somehow managed to completely destroy the motherboard or something else, could you give some advice? Thanks for your help.

Remove all RAM modules and attempt to boot using just one. If it fails, move the stick to another.

Using DDR4 shouldn't be possible at this point. Is the device starting up now? The power button works fine. Did you remove the CMOS battery and allow it to rest for 10 minutes before reinstalling? Please share your complete system specifications (memory, power supply, storage, etc.).

System malfunction occurs, yet fans activate when power button is pressed. Double-checked CMOS battery twice, waited 10 minutes each time. Are there any issues with unavailable speeds? (DDR4)

System specifications:
-kingston 8 gb 2400 x 2 DDR4
-kingston 480 gb ssd
-corsair 650 watt atx-psu
-bitfenix Nova case

Need quick info? Check these links:

Looking for clues on which component failed? It seems likely the motherboard was the issue because it was inexpensive.

Did you disconnect all devices before resetting the CMOS? If yes, verify each connection.

I just took off all the components from the bakpanel and pressed the power button to clear the PC's power supply, following the instructions I was given.
