giantbucket : how did you manage to harm an AMD socket with a modern Intel chip? That seems almost impossible—first, the socket grabs pins that the CPU doesn’t possess, and there’s no clamp from above, so there’s really nothing connecting the Intel CPU to the AMD socket. The CPU should just slide off because it isn’t being held in place by anything at all. Nothing should physically get damaged by this setup. If you somehow bent the pins of your AMD CPU, you could use a mechanical pencil tip to straighten them (check YouTube videos—it’s straightforward, and I’ve done it on a few used processors). It was actually the AMD that caused the damage.
