Recently I switched from a Corsair 750D to a 4000D, which caused my PC to fail to power on and overheat. It turned out the AIO failed during the transition. Now it boots and runs normally until stress is applied. Gaming longer than 3-5 minutes triggers restarts. Temperatures stay between 60-70°C on CPU and GPU. I’ve verified all connections, tested plugging in and unplugging the GPU, and confirmed power cables are solid. It seems my PSU is struggling but it worked fine a week prior before the case change. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

We're discussing serious overheating issues. In severe situations, even with throttling, the processor can still be harmed by intense heat.

The temperature was climbing toward 95 but stopped throttling. Now it turns off at standard temperatures.

Intel considers the 8700K safe up to 100°C, so the overheating might not be a major concern if it's not currently happening. I should compare your RAM SKU with the board’s QVL list. I took this shot in the dark, but it’s wise to verify the basics first. Such issues can lead to random crashes when under stress. While 90°C likely wouldn’t have caused problems without prolonged exposure, overheating could still damage a capacitor or VRM. It might also interfere with the CPU or board’s temperature readings, making it seem like overheating when it’s actually sensor inaccuracy. I've been testing this RAM for many years and am confident it works with the board. The brief spikes in heat were under 30 seconds, which is impressive.
