I placed an order for an 8GB RAM stick suitable for my HP laptop. The part number listed in the laptop according to cpu-z is HMA81GS6CJR8N-XN (SK Hynix, 8GB, 1.2V, 3200MHz). I ordered another one for the second empty slot. The item arrived with an attached image. I’m having trouble locating the product on the SK Hynix website and am unsure if it will work with my laptop. Could someone assist me?

You can verify easily by removing the original 8 and testing your new dimm. For any issues, there should be no problems since these dimm were never tested at varying voltages. The main drawback is that if the two dimm have different speeds, the laptop will operate at the slower speed.

The label seems fake or copied from a Hynix stick. The RAM chips are manufactured by Micron: the code D9TGL decodes to MT40A1G4RH-083E:B, indicating a 4 Gbit chip (512 MB). Eight such chips would equal 4 GB total. If the stick matches on the other side, the capacity is likely 4 GB; otherwise, it’s probably a scam and only 8 GB. Overall, it’s very likely this stick will function properly with your current Hynix device.

Thanks for the update, mariushm and johnno23. I tried installing it on my laptop but it didn’t recognize the RAM. I swapped both slots, but it still didn’t work. It probably isn’t genuine. The website I bought it from doesn’t allow returns, which is a bit concerning. At least I got a warning not to buy from questionable sellers.

the module sticker lists a 22USD Udimm from hynix which is disappointing. it seems the makers pulled information from an existing product and placed it on something incorrect. this experience was frustrating, especially since older memory becomes costly as it runs out and stops being produced, leading to more fake listings.

This G-Skill RAM model would fit your existing system (screenshot provided). An alternative choice is Crucial with Micron technology. Your laptop uses a specific Hynix type not available locally.
