I believe the critic felt really let down, which made my feedback sound excessively critical. It's important to remember that each review reflects a single writer's perspective—here, Ryan McCaffrey from IGN. Other reviewers might rate it differently, especially when considering aspects like the alien design. While the game falls short compared to AVP, it’s not a complete failure; the score of around 6 is average at best. It’s also worth balancing critic and customer opinions, as IGN reviews typically hover near 9.1. Not everyone enjoys every title, even well-regarded ones, so personal preferences play a big role.

He emphasized the downsides a lot, and definitely came across as grumpy. That’s why I believe his review is more of an outburst than a balanced critique.

There’s a bit of agreement, but I’m feeling let down by the game. Everyone seems to say it’s amazing, but honestly the ratings don’t match. A 9.1 feels near perfect, yet this one is nowhere close. I guess 5.9 isn’t bad, but still not great. Right now it seems most people think a 6 out of 10 is terrible, even though more than half would call it decent. If you only look at scores, you might miss the bigger picture—performance matters more than numbers.

You believe AVP by REBELLION surpasses this? I firmly disagree—it's a solid alien title. Survival horror fits the alien genre perfectly, and most fans would say the same. http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/...s-predator

It accomplished precisely what it aimed for. Applied the amnesia formula, incorporated a lot of alien movie settings, and delivered a truly terrifying experience. I’d rate it a 7 out of 10 for a few clear flaws (missing enemy weapons, minor bugs, occasional lazy navigation, etc.).

That's not the version you were thinking of. It's still a legitimate alien-themed game, but it's not particularly groundbreaking. Your feedback is appreciated.

I understand your perspective. It seems I didn't include the grade result. I assumed it was overly negative without knowing. Scores feel unfair, especially considering they don’t always serve the community well. If they gave it a 9, it would mean the devs paid them enough. A 5.9 suggests they didn’t compensate them properly. When the rating is between 6 and 7, it implies they didn’t enjoy the game. Personally, I don’t follow IGN much anymore. I mostly watch TotalBiscuit or Let's Player games that offer genuine entertainment without too much forced content. Recently, single-player titles (post-2008) are really disappointing. Except for Dark Souls.

but it's not that intense, it's mostly just a bit tight in some spots. since the alien is unpredictable, he can be annoying or scary at times, and then disappear, making the next part feel smooth after a tough encounter. honestly, I find amnesia pretty unsettling, but it's close to 7 out of 10. i mainly rely on IGN for updates, which works well. i appreciate people like TB and Angry Joe, even though their opinions differ from mine. i usually watch just one episode to get a sense of the gameplay.

It earned several accolades, likely receiving the highest praise for the past decade.

I’m planning to begin tuning in more to IGN starting today, featuring Max Scoville and Brain Altano—some of the most popular guests on the comedy button podcast.
