I just reinstalled Windows 8.1 and applied all the updates. I restarted several times, using the small GWX icon to reserve an upgrade, but when I tried to restart, GWX disappeared from view. I don’t have any instructions telling me to move to Windows 10, and I don’t have the folders it normally uses. Can I fix this issue?

Review the PC configuration settings --> apply updates and reinstall --> Windows updates section, possibly restart again. Allow a few days if necessary.

Ensure all Windows updates are downloaded and installed. Then pause and wait—updates may arrive gradually, and reserving now won’t guarantee immediate access.
