Greetings, individuals who might be able to offer assistance. Let me state upfront that I am already financially equipped and only require an additional $60 to complete my purchase (I’ve already secured the monitor, keyboard, and mouse). For the last four years, I've harbored a desire to assemble my own personal computer, a dream consistently dismissed by my parents who insisted I could only obtain one once I had sufficient funds. Now, after a lengthy four-year wait, I’ve attained the necessary resources—nearly. I contacted my father and requested the remaining $60 to finalize the purchase, but he declined, citing that “You’re not buying a computer for gaming” and expressing concerns about its potential negative impact on my mind. While he’s correct that I intend to use it for gaming, my father is exceptionally resistant to new ideas and tends not to consider alternative viewpoints. Therefore, I require a more effective line of reasoning. Please refrain from suggesting that I simply explain my desire to learn about PC construction; this approach has proven unsuccessful in the past. Furthermore, do not advise me to save and purchase it independently – my father has a history of damaging or confiscating electronics. I'm seeking a stronger justification, something that demonstrates my absolute need for this computer for a specific purpose beyond academic endeavors (my school provides Chromebooks and internet access).

I’m unsure of the point you're trying to establish, but it appears to be centered around a gaming computer—and that’s not inherently problematic. However, replicating an argument pulled verbatim from an internet discussion won't significantly enhance its persuasiveness. Consider consulting your parents regarding why you’re unable to finance the system yourself and what might sway them to allow its construction. Rather than seeking additional funds alongside your request, it’s best to avoid adding another layer of financial dependence, as that weakens your position by shifting the focus away from your own initiative.

As a father or grandfather, I want to state that whatever arguments anyone presents online won’t sway him to alter his decision. He already possesses a Chromebook and has internet access for school assignments. What more could you possibly offer that wouldn’t lead to distractions and a firm refusal?

Okay... fabricating a reason to purchase a personal computer is probably not the most sensible approach, no matter how you frame it. While PCs offer a far broader range of capabilities than Chromebooks—and we could certainly outline those differences for you—if your intention is simply to use it as a justification and you won't actually utilize those advanced features, then we’re essentially being asked to invent a falsehood. I'm hesitant to assist with that.

Regarding the $60 price, could you please detail your desired specifications and overall budget? It might be possible to adjust the build to reduce costs, allowing you to purchase it independently.
