Hi, I hope someone can assist me. For the past three days, I've been struggling to access my Hotmail account. As soon as I entered my password, the screen would turn white blank with a warning like "use another network to sign in, use a VPN..etc..." followed by a link to a Microsoft support page. In the instructions, there was a prominent button for signing in to my Microsoft account. I clicked it and received the same message again. This is really frustrating. I tried going to Microsoft Support Chat, but it required me to log into my Microsoft account as well. Of course, you guessed it—the attempt to sign in to my Microsoft account produced the exact same message. After some searching, I installed the Microsoft Authenticator App on my mobile and tried logging in. To my surprise, the same message appeared on my phone too! Does this relate to me having completely unblocked my Win 11 Pro on my desktop? I don’t have Edge or a Microsoft account. To my knowledge, I’ve removed all telemetry software from my Win 11 Pro. I recall the last time I logged into Hotmail was yesterday, and before that, I couldn’t log in at all. The same message appeared. But after a few hours, yesterday morning, I managed to sign in. Today, when I tried again early in the morning, it still showed the same message. Can anyone help me understand what’s happening? I couldn’t even reach Microsoft Support to request assistance because I couldn’t log into my Microsoft account. Sigh... I would really appreciate any guidance. Thank you very much.

It seems you were targeted. Please reset your password immediately and check the MS Account Dashboard for any unrecognized logins, phone numbers, emails, and remove them. Disable 2FA and re-enable it.

Thank you for your message. I didn't receive any phishing attempts, and I'm having trouble logging in. Could you clarify what 2FA means?

Have you tried this recommendation? For instance, attempt using VPN/mobile/Wifi on your mobile device when signing in to observe any changes in behavior.

If you're using Windows Hello to access your Windows account,
and
if you manage to log into your MS account through a Windows PC,
then think about incorporating Windows Hello (likely a passkey method) as an alternative sign-in option.
This could potentially reduce the occurrence of this issue on your PC going forward.

Here are some links you might find useful:

or:

(Manage how I sign in > Add a new way to sign in or verify)
Also, verify whether your standard network supports IPv6; it might help avoid blockages due to spam or attacks on Microsoft networks. The following site will display your IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.
What Is My IP?
What is my IP? You can quickly check your public IP address. Your IP address location details include city, state, postal code, country, and ISP.

Thank you for your reply. I am currently using a VPN router while in China. It links to a server in Taiwan, allowing me to access the internet. I tried logging into my Microsoft account using my mobile phone, but perhaps the same VPN connection caused the issue. I attempted to use Winhance to fully remove features from my Windows 11 Pro, but it didn't work because I don't use the Microsoft account for logins. I rely on Chrome for emails and have no Edge installed. Windows Hello was also removed by Winhance. My router only supports IPv4, so IPv6 isn't an option. This seems to be a recent change from Microsoft, and I'm not sure what's happening. I mainly use my PC for gaming and YouTube (watching videos, not posting or streaming).

I recently tried the second link you provided and am now back after some adjustments.

Thank you very much for your assistance. Thank you, thank you...
