I require a review of this build and some guidance.
This is my second attempt at upgrading. I’m aiming for an improvement. This is the build I currently have, which I created about eight years ago.
- Intel I5 6500 CPU
- G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400
- Phanteks Eclipse Series PH-EC416P_WT Glacier White Steel ATX Mid Tower Cases
- GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1060 Windforce OC GV-N1060WF2OC-6GD Video Card
- CORSAIR RMx Series RM550X 550W 80 PLUS GOLD Haswell Ready Full Modular ATX12V & EPS12V SLI and Crossfire Ready Power Supply
- GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-H170-Gaming 3 (rev. 1.0) LGA 1151 Intel H170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
- Cryorig M9i Mini Tower Cooler for Intel CPU
Most functions are running smoothly, but I’m planning an upgrade. It’s starting to feel outdated. My main use cases will be gaming, but I might also stream, play VR, or run AI/ML models. I’m uncertain about sticking solely with Intel due to concerns it might raise about my potential interest in AI/ML. Here’s the PCPartPicker build I’m considering:

I’m not concerned about storage and should be fine with my current case, but that’s not my main concern. The biggest uncertainty is the CPU/GPU pairing and the motherboard choice. I’m also debating whether a nitro+ is better than a 4080 or something in between. Overall, I’m trying to ensure this build lasts at least 10-20 years, with only minor upgrades needed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
