Did your system experience thermal throttling before adjustments helped improve performance? Were XMP settings turned off and power limits applied? Boosts above 200% typically aren't achievable without hardware issues unless it was already damaged. Custom scaling from the original specs hasn't been possible for more than two decades.

I’ve throttled it down using thermal controls, disabled all limits and turned on XMP before. It seems I might have overlooked a recent BIOS update. The main issue isn’t the GPUs themselves—just needing a better prompt to get the best performance. I stayed up all night fine-tuning settings.

I previously achieved around 10 frames per second in Crysis until I pushed it to 20, which isn’t too far from the original. Not close to 30, though a 6200 chip wouldn’t reach that. On a screen that doesn’t show high FPS? I still manage about 500 FPS on some titles, but my monitor only renders 85.

Used a 3600CL14 Ram, it cost a lot of money. You don’t need to worry about the difference, I’ve been there too. (I doubt it’ll help, compared to the rest) Edited October 31, 2025 by leclod

I frequently questioned whether inputting every possible OC CPU and RAM configuration (successes and failures) would consistently improve an LLM’s overclocking recommendations.

The i3 12100 handles heavy all-core tasks and high power draw, often pushing the cooler beyond its limits. Poor cooling solutions can also cause issues. While a large 360mm AIO might work, weak mounting pressure may still lead to throttling. I’m not questioning ChatGPT’s guidance on PC adjustments, though I suspect it can be unreliable based on past experiences. What concerns me is whether you boosted your gaming performance from 200fps to 500fps through hardware changes. That’s unrealistic. BIOS updates won’t triple performance either. There are no settings in the BIOS that boost frame rates by such a factor. If you changed Valorant’s max settings to competitive mode, that could explain it. Based on available data, the GTX 1070 should cap around 200–220fps at full resolution. Lowering demanding graphics options might unlock the i3 12100’s full potential, possibly reaching 500fps in certain scenarios. Are you adjusting game settings in this process?

We genuinely care. When someone shares something shocking, we want to see the evidence ourselves. That way, we can benefit from it too. I get it if you don’t have proof either.

Bios updated completely, still using unlimited settings. Playing at lowest configuration 1080p. No other changes made beyond the BIOS update.

You think it’s impressive to say you boosted your car’s speed to 300mph by changing the transmission mode from Eco to Sport. It sounds like a small change with no real impact. Perhaps you’d notice a modest improvement—around 10-15% in overall performance—by lifting power limits. I’m inclined to agree, but those adjustments don’t translate into a massive gain of 2.5x in gaming frames.
